XIV International Symposium on Genetics in Aquaculture
November 27th – December 2nd, 2022
Why should you be interested in ISGA?
The International Symposium on Genetics in Aquaculture (ISGA) is the largest global event on genetics and genomics of aquatic species. Dr. José Manuel Yáñez, the Chair of the Organizing Committee, aims to promote communication between international researchers and the industry regarding the relevance and potential of genetics and genomics in aquaculture. The symposium features oral presentations, poster sessions, and technical excursions focused on Chilean aquaculture. Topics covered include biotechnology, functional genomics, genomic prediction, selective breeding, genetics of diseases and stress, genomes and metabiomes, and more. Touristic options to explore Northern Chilean Patagonia are also available for attendees.
How was the experience at XIV ISGA in Puerto Varas?
The XIV International Symposium on Genetics in Aquaculture (ISGA XIV) was a highly esteemed event that took place in Puerto Varas, Chile. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the symposium successfully brought together experts and professionals from around the world to share the latest research on genetics and genomics for enhancing efficiency and sustainability in aquaculture. The program featured engaging plenary talks, oral sessions, pitch sessions, and poster presentations covering a diverse range of topics, including quantitative genetics, disease and stress genetics, genomics, genomic prediction, gene editing, and population genetics. Additionally, the dedicated “Industry Day” provided a platform for industry applications in genetics. The symposium proved to be an invaluable opportunity for networking, knowledge exchange, and collaboration among participants, shaping the future of genetics in the field of aquaculture.
