Short presentations modality (PITCH) was defined to enhance the visibility of the research results on genetics in aquaculture and have better interaction between the attendees at the symposium.
Dr. José Manuel Yáñez reported that the participation of the first ISGA 2022 keynote speaker has already been confirmed. She is Dra. Daniela Lourenço, Associate Professor of Animal Genetics and Genomics at the University of Georgia, United States, who has been working in this field since 2004. Her current research uses genomic information to increase the rates of genetic progress; the development of methods for genomic evaluations and the use of computational algorithms to analyze large databases (Big Data). Her research group has been working on genomic selection in cattle and dairy cattle, pigs, poultry and fish. Additionally, she has been involved in the development and implementation of one-step genomic evaluations for various breeding companies and breeder associations.
The national and international scientific committees have been working hard on the evaluation process for the last two weeks. The results will be announced on August 26th, through the release of the official program.
